Verruca Needling Treatment Now Available!
Verruca needling is an innovative and successful treatment for verruca, which are non-threatening types of the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) group. During the treatment, the verruca tissue is broken down to create a controlled inflammatory response which encourages the body’s immune system to identify the virus and destroy it.
HOW DOES THE VERRUCA NEEDLING WORK?
Once the area is numbed with a local anaesthetic the verruca tissue is punctured with a sterile needle pushing the tissue below the skin, this way the verruca virus is exposed to the fatty tissue beneath the skin where the body is rich in immune regulators. Once this is achieved the immune system can identify and destroy the virus. Successfully it has been shown that treatment of only one verruca is required even where there are many lesions as spontaneous remission can occur in all, or most, verruca at the same time
WHAT WILL HAPPEN DURING THE TREATMENT?
- You will be given an injection of local anaesthetic which will make your verruca and surrounding area numb
- Once the verruca tissue is numb, a needle will be used to implant the virus into the lower dermal layer of the skin. It is then that the body’s immune system can come into contact and eliminate the virus.
- A dry dressing will be applied to the verruca once the procedure is completed.
